Leah Murphy is a PhD student at the University of Bath. Her PhD focusses on fabricating optical fibres for therapeutic applications, specifically endoscopic ablation. She is particularly interested in hollow core fibre optics and developing ways to fabricate novel fibre microstructures. Prior to her PhD, Leah carried out her Masters research at the Institut Laue-Langevin in Grenoble, studying materials which could be used to construct temperature-sensitive microcapsules for drug delivery. Outside of work, Leah speaks Welsh and Irish poorly and enjoys cycling and playing boardgames.
